200 Best Smoothie Bowl Recipes by Alison Lewis is a wonderful recipe book filled from front to back with recipes for the whole family to enjoy.
So what IS a smoothie “bowl” you ask…
A Smoothie!!! Kinda. Now, who doesn’t love a good smoothie? They’re cold, refreshing, and quick to toss together. Now take that wonderful delicious smoothie and dump it in a bowl. Then layer on the granola, fruits, and nuts and you have a delicious SMOOTHIE BOWL! *tada*
These nutrition-packed, little bowls of heaven are super simple to whip up. Typically, I like to keep a few staples in my house such as frozen and fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, a bag of spinach or kale, almond milk, and various toppings such as granola and nuts. All of which are great in a smoothie and double as snacks for my eldest. 200 Best Smoothie Bowl Recipes is packed with kid-friendly recipes Alison loves such as Peanut Butter Cup (pg 99). With only five ingredients, I can have a sweet treat whipped up in no time.
What other types of recipes are included?
Alison Lewis’ book also includes breakfast, desserts, any-time-of-day recipes and even some with coffee and tea as the base! One of my particular favorites is the Pomegranate Tea Bowl (pg 179). I love everything pomegranate and with the strawberries, it is a wonderful summer pick-me-up.
What’s the best part?
The amount of energy I have had since I started eating these delectable treats is amazing. Most of my meals are spent nibbling leftovers my toddler so graciously left me, but now my body is finally getting the fuel it needs to keep up with two very energetic, wonderful, little girls. To sum it all up BUY THE BOOK! I appreciate that it’s not filled with a lot of “fluff”. There are a small introduction and a wonderful index where you can look up recipes by ingredient, after that it is cover-to-cover recipes.
